By Alexander So
This is a good lens for folks like me who want a wide angle lens but can't afford the expensive offerings from Nikon or Canon. And with the freebies included in this kit - the filters, cleaning kit, mini tripod, and especially the 7-year extended warranty - it's a steal! I even bought it for LESS than other offers available on Amazon, and for those you only get the lens.I've only been using the lens a few days, but I've already gotten some great shots with it. Stepped down over f8, you'll not see much of the corner softness reported for this lens in other reviews/sites. There's also little to no vignetting and chromatic aberration, which is wonderful.Autofocus with the Sigma HSM is pretty quick and silent, but on my Nikon D5000 it does "hunt" sometimes, especially if I use anything other than the center AF point on less-than-high-contrast subjects. To be fair, my other lenses (Nikon 35mm f1.8 AF-S and Tamron 18-270 f3.5-6.3 BIM - especially the Tamron) also hunt in similar situations. The niggles I have with this lens are that the zoom ring is a little stiff for my liking, and that it has a fair amount of distortion towards the edges. The zoom ring stiffness may be just because the lens is new, we'll see if it improves with time. However, the distortion may be distracting if you take people shots with this lens - people towards the sides of your shots will appear twice as fat! :) But this lens, being wide angle, is really best for landscapes and architecture shots, and on those the distortion is okay, even desirable. Another minor peeve is that the included lens case is a tad big... I had trouble finding space for it in my camera bag. Though it does have a belt loop on it, which is a plus. The free accessories are just okay. I wouldn't buy them on their own, but since they're free I'll take them any day. I have the UV filter on the lens for protection. The CPL filter works well enough, but I think it doesn't cut haze or reflections as much as other CPLs out there. I've not used the fluorescent filter. The cleaning kit is also okay (the cloth can leave some fibers when used with the cleaning liquid). The screen protector stickers are HARD to put on well on the LCD - I ended up having ugly lines under the protector when I tried, and ended up taking it off. The tiny tripod can't really handle heavy DSLRs, but surprisingly it held my D5000 up when only my 35mm was on it.Finally, the 7 year extended warranty is real nice to have. I hope to not need to use it, but it's an added security blanket if something does happen. Make sure to register it at [...] within 30 days of purchase!Bottom line, this kit is a great buy, and a great addition to a photographer's kit!

This is a great lens to fill the "wide" segment of your lens collection. The picture quality is not perfect. There is some softness at the edges, and considerable distortion. I have had no problems with focus, and when stopped down, overall sharpness is quite satisfactory. Works great for landscapes. The build quality is very good. Feels balanced and sturdy. The hood reverses on the lens for convenient storage. Perfect if you are on a budget and need a good wide lens for landscapes.47st photography was very quick, lens was well packaged and arrived with all the goodies within 3 days.

By D. Seacrest
The Sigma 10-20mm for Nikon DX is a fine lens but not perfect. There are issues with softness at the corners and focusing accuracy but I knew these going into the purchase. Construction quality is solid and feels good on the camera. I believe at the price I paid, this purchase is a good value ... the wideness factor is really amazing.
