Leblanc has stopped making artist's instruments, a sad fate for one of the finest clarinet makers with a noble history. But among the last of its extraordinary clarinets is the Leblanc by Backun Symphonie, one of which I'm pleased to own and play. The wood is beautiful, the keywork innovative without being strange under the fingers, and the Backun design, of the instrument itself and the two barrels and bell, inspired and inspiring. I'm using a 64mm Vandoren Masters CL4, which suits the clarinet very well. Projection, depth of tone, and intonation are all excellent--and everything just feels right. If you can find one, it's well worth trying.I met Morrie Backun many years ago, as a beginner, and he spent nearly an hour with me helping me choose a barrel and bell. Morrie just loves clarinets (and I guess clarinetists, too, because he's generous with his time and advice). Even if you don't play a Backun horn, available now from Morrie in a range that covers students and world-class musicians, consider a barrel, a bell, or both. They're capable of transforming a good instrument into a great one!

Very prompt delivery and the installation was very simple. The supplied bolts fit perfectly. My only complaint is that the shape of the brackets does not match the photo. They look OK, but the shape in the photo would have been better.

To start, as the full name of this pedal would indicate, this pedal is for tube amps. I can't comment on how it'll sound for a hybrid, and my experience is that it's definitely not for solid state. Distortion pedals go much better with solid state. Further, tube screamers aren't meant to take your tube amp from clean to high gain; again, that's what a distortion pedal will do. Tube screamers in general are designed to drive your tubes a little harder,and are most commonly used as a solo boost. Tube screamers are in the category of "overdrive" pedals, and like the name would indicate, they're meant add a little extra "over" an already "driven" amp, but in a more natural, smooth, organic way then a distortion pedal would.HOWEVER, the Ibanez TS-9dx does more than your typical tube screamer. The extra knob that switches between ts9, +, hot, and turbo mode adds a whole lot of tone and use options. Let me expound: I play hard rock and metal through a Bugera 1990 head (basically a Marshall JCM 900)and cab with celestion vintage 30 speakers. While that amp does have a fair amount of gain and bass on tap, it's not quite enough to accurately get more modern tones unaided. A standard Ibanez TS-9 or some other knock-off tube screamer will not be able to get an amp like mine into more modern, heavier tones, because standard tube screamers also slightly cut bass and add some mids, again, to help solos cut through the mix. But the extra knob on the ibanez ts9dx solves this problem. By switching to +, hot, or turbo mode, the pedal adds bass and a little extra gain incrementally. I like the "+" setting the best. So the way I use this pedal is that I'll set my amp for my standard crunchy rhythm tone with the gain on the amp already fairly high. Then, for the songs that utilize a little heavier sound, I'll kick on my ts9dx, with the drive pretty low (9 o'clock), volume at 12 o'clock, tone about 1 o'clock, and + mode. With these settings it increases the bass and general thickness of my tone, and adds a little gain and volume. So it's basically like adding another channel to my amp. I will add one detail that might make or break this pedal for you: tubescreamers in general, and certainly this Ibanez ts-9dx, add mid-range to your tone automatically. And you can't dial it out. The regular ts-9 mode adds some low mids, and a little more high mids. The other modes add more low mids in particular, which in part contribute to the overall "thickness" to the tone, which can be great. But if you're after a scooped mid sound, say for metal, then I would only recommend this pedal as a solo boost, where the mids will help cut through the mix. In conclusion, it's probably safe to say that most people who buy tubescreamers are probably playing blues of some sort and are just looking to boost their volume and maybe add a little dirt. And yes, this pedal will do that. So will the BBE greenscreamer, behringer tube overdrive,mxr distortion plus, Boss SD-1, digitech bad monkey, or several other ibanez tube screamer pedal variations. But by adding the turbo-mode options, the Ibanez TS-9dx will work for the hard rock and metal players (depending on the exact style) in a way that these plethora of other options won't.

I have only used one of these with a hybrid tube amp and a solid state but I hear that it will work with either tube or solid state amplifiers. It really gives my amplifier a warm overdriven sound. This pedal can be used to boost your guitar sound during solos or certain guitar parts. This pedal has three preamp settings: Ts9, Hot, +, and Turbo. It's great for solos and warm blues or rock rhythm guitar. One nice thing about this is it responds well to how soft or hard you pluck the strings. For example: if you set on the "Turbo" setting and pick with your fingers it will clean up nicely. If you pluck hard it will make a smooth distorted sound. If you want a metal sound, then I recommend the Metal Zone by Boss/Roland. BOSS MT-2 Metal Zone Overdrive Distortion Pedal

These boots are an issue item at my workplace. I live in northern Australia where we receive all conditions. Wet and hot, to dry and dusty, depending upon the season. I work in front line Law Enforcement and am ex military so I have a pretty good understanding of boots. I currently also wear Danner Fort Lewis when it is really wet and a Danner GTX SZ for riding round in the truck.The Altama 8inch is hard core. Much more so that other more lightweight boots that promise to deliver but dont. At first it is uncomfortable and the leather tops wear a mark in your lower leg. The lace guides at the ankle will dig in for a few days too. I spent 4 shifts cursing the boots until they got really wet. I continued to wear them while they dried out. After drying and polishing they were fantastic and are now excellent. The fit is wider than a Danner and there is no pinching at the front of the foot. The sole is grippy and solid. The nylon Cordura side pannels are like Kevlar and you cant kill em.If i did not get these from work I would probably buy a pair as they are what the manufacturer advertises. INFANTRY boots. They are hard core and can suck up plenty of punishment. Just dont expect them to have all the Gucci features that are on other supposed tactical boots. Some so called Tactical Boots are for police assault teams to be able to climb walls, rope off buildings and arrest bad guys. This takes 5 minutes then it's home for tea and medals. The Infanrty boot is designed to soak up the worst conditions that nature can throw at you for days on end and protect your feet at the same time. If you want a hard core boot buy these.

This crash has out lasted my Sabians and Zildjian crashes I have bought over my 6 years of drumming. It has a full powerful sound that definitely says, "I'm a FULL Crash." I hit it incredibly hard and it has lasted all these years. I really love the cymbal and say it is worth the investment.

Decent but Returned Items

I purchased this product with great anticipation for my new little girl. Thankfully, I wanted to set everything up before she arrived because all of the items were too small for my crib. The plain white sheet didn't fit the mattress and crib bumper (which I didn't plan to use with my baby in the crib) didn't fit all the way around the crib. The items seemed to be decent quality but obviously in need of washing and ironing before use. I was disappointed the sheet was simply white and had no pattern at all.

The set has very lovely colors which washed well, even in hot water when we had insect issues in our building. I like that there are matching products to go with the bedding set to make a complete living space. We've gotten a lot of compliments on the set. The sheet is all around elastic so it doesn't slip, but I wish it had a pattern instead of being plain old white. I also was disappointed that the bumper, while it does have top and bottom ties throughout, does not have enough length in the ties to get around the end posts of our Cocoon crib.Overall, a good product which I would recommend.

The fit was perfect and I'm amazed at how comfortable this shoe is for such a high heel. Wore these shoes to three different parties in one night, danced and mingled, walked and stood with no pain whatsoever. The "WoW" factor of these shoes is off the charts...super sexy and comfortable. These sandals are a great alternative to the expensive designer sandals out right now. I was unsure what size to get I can wear a size 9 or 10 in heels, other reviews said they ran true to size so I got the 9 and they are perfect. They are so comfortable and look really nice on. I also wanted to mention that I was a little unsure because I have a wide foot but they are fine and look great! Highly recommended

This player will start the movie from where you stopped it or even if you power it off unlike other players where if you press stop or power off will go back to the very beginning. Excellent picture and menu controls. Comes with 5 Blu-Ray Discs in the box and you also can mail a rebate form in for 5 more discs.

I'm quite pleased with the Panasonic DMP-BD10AK. That said, if you're now in the market for a high-end Panasonic Blu-ray player, I suggest you wait for the just-announced Panasonic DMP-BD50. The BD10AK is discontinued and it's replacement seems to be the DMP-BD50. The DMP-BD30 looks nice on paper but it seems to be targeting a lower price point (ie. fewer features).I went with the BD10AK because I needed the analog decoding built into the player as I have an older AVR that cannot decode the new higher definition audio formats. With the BD50 now announced, it is best to get that instead.

I ordered a DMP-BD10AK, and Amazon's selling partner (not mentioned in description) shipped a DMP-BD10APPK. In an e-mail exchange, their partner has implied that it is the same unit and that "The manufacturer's box adds the PP to the SKU for internal inventorypurposes". In any case, after the first disk played locked up ten minutes in, I upgraded the firmware from v2.4 to v2.5 using Panasonic's download service. Note that the downloaded file is a PC ".exe" file, so Mac users might want to use a cross-platform helping application to decompress the firmware update prior to burning it to CD. No problems since the firmware upgrade. (By the way, the process was easy and painless.)Performance: The picture is excellent, as is the sound. The quality varies according to input. For instance, I had hoped "Planet Earth" would display without the blurring motion artifacts that were seen on the cable broadcast, but no, the compression artifacts were still there; "Flags of Our Fathers" was crisp (albeit with lots of video gimmickry). DVD-processing is very good, and my one Superbit DVD, "Lawrence of Arabia" is even "gorgeous-er". The unit upconverts DVD content to 1080p quite well: you'll be saying "No lines! No lines!".Audio seemed stunning, even though I'm using 5.1 right now and not 7.1. It SEEMS clearer with a better S/N ratio. No instruments, just my well-tuned ears.Operability: (meh) I'd like the setup button more easily-available, and like reviewers in other media have noted, it's sort of a pain not being able to get a jump on disk load/eject from your chair. That button is on the player itself.Overall: This player seems very, very good. It will show the best material spectacularly. And I can see all the blemishes, since I'm watching 1080p on a very large front-projected screen. There don't seem to be many blemishes, though.Buy one.

14k Yellow Gold 2.5mm Square Byzantine Chain Necklace, 18"I was looking for an 18" 14k yellow gold chain necklace thin enough to be worn with a pendant, but heavy enough to be worn alone. This necklace is exactly what I wanted. I would have rated this item five stars, except for the fact that I didn't know what type of clasp it had, since there was no description or photo of it. I think the clasp information extremely important when purchasing a necklace of this quality and price. After being told it had the expected lobster claw clasp, I was happy to purchase it. It was gratifying to discover that the clasp information has been added to the description.
