Once you "go bar," you'll never go back.

I bought the 48" rack from their website. The rack and hooks are solid construction. The only thing that could damage them is perhaps if you laid it on railroad tracks and waited for the #666 to Portland to run over it. In an age where nothing is made to last, this will outlast your lineage until that fateful day when the sun sizzles out.Pros: Construction; great for long narrow spacescons: The price of the hooks; getting the bar the correct sizeI bought this a year ago to go over my 6 foot long, narrow island constructed out of products from Ikea. It came with 8 hooks off their website. Not enough hooks. So I ordered another two sets of 4 with a whopping price tag of $108.00. For 8 hooks? Holy cow. Now I had too many hooks and not enough bar.Here's a nifty trick.If you want it custom to your space, you can have it made, cheap. Since no one makes a 6 foot bar, I called a local machine shop and found a guy who would make me a solid steal 6' x 2" x 3/8" bar for $30.00. He even put the holes exactly where I wanted them. This is great because we didn't want to go back up into the attic and re-drill the holes. Have your machinist drill the holes where your studs are so you don't have to go up into the attic and modify the beams like we did. Once you find the studs in the ceiling, just screw in your hooks, then take measurements for the placement of the holes. Nice!It is raw steal, so if you have to have it all pristine you'll have to sand it and spray paint it. I prefer the raw look with the chrome hooks--ok I'm lazy.In any event, I finally got my perfect pot rack and all is well in the kitchen, accept for the other 100 things I need to do in here to customize it.The price of the hooks has come down a bit, but you have to search for them. It's been a rather expense journey getting a pot rack exactly the way I want it, but the end result is priceless!Also, even if I had the space, I would never go back to a conventional oval or rectangle shaped pot rack. For one thing, you can get quite a bit more on this bar rack. The skillets can literally rest on each other. It's a lot easier accessing your pots and you only have to look at the sides of the pots instead of the fronts or backs. What a waist of space! Frankly, if my island were wider, it'd have two of these bars side by side. Oh the things I could hang if I could have two 6' long racks!

Authentic, operating collectible

I liked this set so well, I bought a second one. If you're modelling Hogs Meade, or platform 9 3/4, from the Harry Potter series, this is a "must have" addition for your O-gauge layout. The tightest curves that the train will negotiate are O-36, so if your layout is based on O-31 or O-27 curves, you will be disappointed. Lionel includes an O-36 based oval as part of the set. My layout is based on O-42 and larger curves, and I haven't had any problems.The locomotive, tender, and cars are nicely detailed, and well built for this price point. As with any nicely detailed train components, it is necessary to exercise care when handling.The locomotive is not ready for digital control or for digital sound effects. It has a working smoke unit and an air driven whistle. Lionel could add sound by offering an appropriately equipped car, as they have done with their Polar Express O-gauge train. I hope they do.If you're looking for a modestly priced train set as a starter for elementary school age children, you might be better off getting one of the bulletproof nondescript freight sets (Pennsy, NYC, Santa Fe, etc). If you would like an authentically detailed collectible based on the Harry Potter stories, either to run on a suitable layout, for display, or just for collecting, this set will fill the bill very nicely.

Hogwarts Expressby Lionel Trains

I was very pleased to receive this Lionel train set from my daughter for Christmas. I was a bit disappointed that it will not runon my O31 track layout, so I went ahead and set up a small addition to my layout just for the Hogwart Express. I am not at all happy with the Lionel Fastrack. It is over priced, noisey, anddifficult to keep the sections together unles they are screwed down. The 90 degree cross over I purchased stopped the locomotive cold! Lionel could offer me no reason why this Lionel product would not run on their track properly. I finally came to the conclusin that the locomotive was losing its electrical ground whencrossing. I removed the rubber traction tires and now it runs fine. It is definitely a design flaw inthe wheel spacing. With the traction tires in place, the metal rear wheels could not carry current. Thelocomotive jerked at low speeds. I determined that something was binding in the drive. It turnedout to be the rod that drive the smoke puffer...it had too severe a bend. After I straightened it a bit,the locomotive runs smoothly at lower speeds. The couplers onthe cars are pure junk. They are plastic and willopen without warning at any time. This is a nicely detailed locomotive and train set but the quality infinal inspection is just not there. I wanted one to run, not just set on a shelf to look at. The headlight already hs to be replaced...there isn't even three hours on this unit yet. Customer support is wanting from Lionel...by the way, the replacement led headlight is $4.00 plus $9.00 shipping!!!!!! Frankly, I expected more from Lionel.

Big O Gauge Fun for fans of Harry Potter and or British trains

At long last, Lionel has produced a model of the Hogwarts Express(tm) that is big enough for small hands to operate. Fantasy lovers will owning a realistic model of the train that Harry Potter rides to Hogwarts. Train lovers will enjoy a truly historic event in the world of toy and model trains. This is Lionel's first ever model of an historic British train, which required completely new tooling and molds.Railfans will notice the bumpers on the front, the fenders over the drivers, and the "missing" sand dome (the sand reservoirs are attached to the steam dome). All of these details give this die-cast 4-6-0 locomotive an appearance that is streamlined, classic, and uniquely British.In fact, fans of English railroads will quickly recognize a Great Western Railway "Hall" class locomotive, one of the most successful steam locomotives ever built. The Olton Hall was built in 1937 and is one of about eleven Hall class locomotives to be preserved. Where's the travel case?

I've been using Braun shavers for about 15 years. I started using my dad's when I was in high school, bought my own eventually, and have probably owned four or five of them. A few years back, I decided to give Norelco a try and bought the wet/dry model that dispenses Nivea lotion... terrible mistake. I'm a pretty skinny guy with a large-ish adams apple. The big, flat Norelco-style shavers just can't shave my neck. Braun's bar-shaped shaver head is the only one that works for me. If you have a face like Fred Flintstone, I suppose Norelco might do.In any case, if you're familiar with the Braun family, this shouldn't disappoint. The actual shaver mechanism -- the cutterblock and curved foil that contact your skin -- hasn't changed much in the last five years or so. I think they've advanced the actual shaver design as far as it can go and it's just a matter of adding bells and whistles like LEDs and charge indicators and such. If you're in the market for a new shaver and you like the Braun system, you're probably not going to find a better shaver. However, there are some caveats.Complaint #1: Accessories. Every Braun I've had previously came with a protective plastic cap and a hard plastic travel case. As anyone who has used this type of razor before can tell you, if you ding up the foil, you're screwed. You have to blow $45 on a new cutterblock/foil combo at Target. The plastic cover is hugely important in protecting the razor and I can't believe they didn't include one. Now, had they decided to still include a nice hard case, it wouldn't have been the end of the world. But neither? That's inexcusable. I've only had it for three days but I'm worried that I'm going to trash it.Complaint #2: The cleaning unit. Braun's cleaning system, on one hand, is brilliant. It does an amazing job of what it's supposed to do (clean your razor) and definitely prolongs the life of the blades. I get a lot more mileage than I used to back in the days when I used to open it up and dump out the stubble every time. What I don't like about it is that you don't have the option to disable charging the battery. I can't claim to be an expert on batteries but the consensus seems to be that every Lithium Ion batteries need to be fully discharged every once in a while. Since you can't replace the battery (at least that I'm aware of), it would be nice to be able to run the battery down while cleaning it. Your only recourse it to not clean it, which is less than ideal. The packaging claims that it handles "your cleaning and charging needs", leading the customer to think that it's keeping your battery in tip-top shape. I don't buy it. My experience is that it fully charges the battery every time.If you live by yourself (with no pets) and never travel, the lack of a protective cover might not be a deal breaker. Other than that, it's a solid buy.

Excellent product, great value

I bought my first set of drums recently, a very loud Premier set. I was rather nervous about playing them in my condo-- even though the units next door on both sides were empty, I really didn't want to upset anyone. I began looking around for a product that would allow me to learn to play without being loud enough to disturb anyone a room or more away.I decided to try this Vic Firth pack, and I'm very glad I did.First, lets get through the potential negatives: There will obviously still be some noise, as there has to be enough volume to allow you to hear the difference in tone between the drums. I'd say the noise reduction is 75% to 80% on the toms and bass, 90-95% on the cymbals (80-90 on high-hat), and 60% on the snare (unless you disable the snare mechanism, then it's the same reduction as the toms). This is perfectly acceptable to me, as it really is difficult to hear the drums being played 2 or more rooms away and even though they're still audible from a room away, even the lightest sleeper would still be able to fall asleep.There is slightly less stick response, which is impossible to get around. I actually view this as a positive as I imagine everyone who uses this product will be using it to practice, and having less bounce forces you to focus on your technique a little bit more.Finally, I can imagine that the product will start to wear down after a while. It's inevitable with anything to do with drums. I imagine that intense drumming and heavy hitting will wear them down in 6-9 months (especially the snare), but standard drummers will probably get a lot more use out of them.Everything else about this product is absolutely fantastic. They're supremely easy to install, they look great, they're big enough on the cymbals to not have to worry about missing, and they fit all their respective drums perfectly. The noise reduction is better than what I was expecting, and they still allow you to hear the various tones of the respective drums, which is very important.I would definitely buy this product again.

Perfect - Great quality, perfect fit, no complaints

If you need a muting system to be able to practice on your kit without disturbing everyone in the house/apartment, this is the best product I could find. I've tried other muting systems (some much more expensive and difficult to apply) and this one does the job perfectly.I have more drums and cymbals on my kit than just the sizes provided, but they are a perfect fit for: 14" snare, 12/13/16" toms, 22" bass, 14" hi-hats, 16" crash, 20" ride. I didn't have to cut them to size or modify the mute pads in any way. From box to drum and done. - The hi-hat is perfect, just close your hi-hat and lock it in place and you'll get no noise (seems obvious, huh?). - The snare is muted enough that it still sounds like a snare but 1/10th the sound (not an exact audio output measurement, I'm using that ratio for illustrative purposes). - The toms are muted to the point where you almost can't tell a tone difference. - The crash and ride mutes are a perfect fit for my 16" crash and 20" ride and I can still tell them apart. - The bass is muted enough that I'm sure if you put this on the first floor, no one would know you were playing. I'm on the second floor so people can hear the light tapping and the foot step of the bass but not the sound of the drums themselves. One person said it's almost if I'm tapping my hands on my knees and stomping my foot.BL: If you're looking for a muting system, this is the product for you.I read someone's review who went berserk about the smell. All I have to say is that the smell isn't as bad as that person made it out to be (a bit melodramatic about it if you ask me). And the other thing is... oh ya: You are buying a rubber padded muting system - so heads up... they are going to smell like rubber.

Fantastic!

Great drum mutes, made it possible to finally play my set in a four unit house. Just what i was looking for. You can still hear the different tones of each drums. My only complaint is that the cymbals don't sound too great, but i think that's unavoidable. All in all a great product that i highly recommend.

Great item, not so great seller

The costume is just fantastic. My issue is with the seller (Morris Costume). Long story short, received the item and the plastic "fanny" was dented. Tried (carefully) to push out the dent. The plastic shattered. The seller doesn't accept returns around Halloween, so I ordered a new costume. Same problem with the new one. Didn't risk fixing it. Seller asked for feedback and I conveyed my issue. By the time they responded and said I could return for replacement, Halloween was past and it was too late. Their price was great though. Anyway, don't hesitate to buy this item for yourself or a family member looking to be Stewie. But be careful if the plastic fanny is dented when received. Trying to fix it will almost certainly result in it shattering and being rendered useless.

Beautiful Watch--Quality Movement

I bought this watch 6 years ago when Chanel thought it would be a trend. It's not surprising to me that their watch business really took off. I still get as many compliments today as I did the day I bought it. Many other luxury brands have tried to compete, but Chanel's watch craftsmanship is far above any other haute couture company. This is likely because they purchased a swiss watch company before designing the product. The result is a finished product that rivals many other famous watch brands. Just put it next to any of the other ceramic watches. Another nice thing about this watch, because it is mostly ceramic, is that it does not set off metal detectors at airport security. Ceramic is inert and thus it can be worn in the ocean with no problem. Through all this torture, it remains beautiful.If you have not had a fine watch before, it can be hard to settle down on one choice. But keep in mind that a brand's expense and fame does not alway guarantee that the product is hassel-free (Jaguar, anyone?). Start out with something that will work well. Chanel is wonderful about repairs. I worked in a medical office around a prototype machine that I did not know was credited with regularly pulling the mainspring out of mechanical watches. The result was the watch's three separate trips to Chanel over the last two years (that it, four years after I purchased it). Chanel never said a word--it was always fixed even though it was my fault. They also always serviced the inside of the watch (which usually is done every 3 years at a cost, like an oil change). Finally, after 6 years of daily wear, the closure mechanism on the band started to wear down. Chanel repaired it for free. This is the kind of treatment you would hope for when spending $5k on a watch. My brother and many friends have different variations of the J12. We all have great stories. I also have a Patek Philippe and my friends have Rolexs, Cartiers, Omegas, and Piagets and all of these companies nickel and dime for every repair, even when it is an obvious quality issue. Not good. Wait to rate

Awesome comforter for a short while. The same with the pillows. They end up clumping into balls and become useless. I loved them (in the beginning) so much, that I repurchased more hoping the quality improved. Unfortunately they haven't figured a way to keep the filling from redistributing itself into clumps in random places. I'm sure the 5 stars are from folks that rated in the first month of using the products. I really wish they lasted longer.I had also discussed the clumping with employees at the store the I bought them at and they were aware of the issue.

Super Soft and Warm!!!

I received this comforter just before the weather hit 15 degrees in Seattle the week before Thanksgiving - Nice timing! I was looking for an oversized king which this one is close to being. It is very warm! (I have another alternative down comforter that is even heavier on fill than this one that is not nearly as warm once you are under it.) The microfiber cover is super, super soft and the fluffy fill material really feels like its down inside - even though its not. The box stitching however, leaves much to be desired. Because it is microfiber, it doesn't slide against other blankets or sheets well. On one hand, this is good as it stays put (doesn't end up sliding to the floor); on the other hand, its only barely single-stiched, so some of the "rugged, double-needle stitching" has already torn by just trying to pull the blanket up when making the bed. The one I received is NOT double-stitched for the baffle-boxes but it is double stitched around the outer edges. I also wish it was offered in other colors - its only in White and I would have preferred cream or beige. Overall, $50 for a warm, soft, over-sized king duvet is a pretty darn good deal!

Nice but NOT "all-weather" - way too warm

Seems like a great comforter and alternative to down but it is WAY too warm. I don't see how this is an "all-weather" blanket - can't imaging using it in the summer. This may be perfect for some people because of the warmth but not for us. And I am someone who is always freezing. Otherwise it is a very fluffy, comfortable blanket that seems light-weight. It is just not breathable.

This is for the birds!

I noticed that some of the reviews were not to complimentary for bird photography. I have been photographing nature for many years. I was recently in a local park with my new Olympus ED 70-300 Lens, when I happened upon a robin, and later a woodpecker. Both of these were grab shots, hand-held, no tripod. So, once again the ingridents for a photo consist of timing, the place, and a dash of luck. Experience in the field doesn't hurt either. Best 300mm four thirds option

Kinda pricey, but very well made. Its a sharp lens too, but its rather heavy and long, almost to the point where I'd worry about my lens mount as this has no tripod mount. Panasonic makes some nice and affordable 200mms, but for the full 300mm, this does the job without breaking the bank.Con: wanted to do some telemacro, but even with the extension tube the minimum focus distance isnt great

Great product. Fast read and write. Slider design is better than a cap you can lose and it ends up smaller than others. Sturdy metal loop to connect to key chain, etc. What more could you want? It's the best all around USB drive I have used.
