By Mr. Hambel
This sucker sounds really great. And it's true what they say about tube amps. You aren't really hearing it unless you crank it. I cranked it, and it was the greatest thing I've ever heard (I played a metal chord, then turned it from super loud to very low, and I could progressively hear the tone go from amazingly thick and rich, to crackly and thin. so only buy this if you plan on playing it LOUD). Put it on the Metal or Insane settings, and it's just nuts. However, it broke the next day, so I had to send it off for repair to a "local" service center (where Line 6 made me pay 30 bucks to ship. thanks L6). It's been over a month and they finally got around to checking it out. They told me the tubes were faulty. So great. Now they say another 2 weeks to order new tubes and test to see if there are any other problems. Nice work, Line 6. BTW, my POD X3's headphone jack only outputs a MONO signal now. How great is that? Talk about quality! (the presets suck too btw. no one uses those. and you can't customize them like you can on the POD X3, but thankfully, you don't need them. the main channel knob has all you need!!)Other than that, this amp sounds AMAZING. A shame about the faulty tubes in my unit, but I hope when I get it back, it will last longer than a few minutes of it cranked. And no, not crazy cranked, just normal cranked. The matching cab sounds amazing btw.

Best amp ever. OK there's no one best amp, but, this thing sounds amazing no matter what your style. FBV Shortboard is a must to unlock its tonal potential. Connect it to your computer and make it your own. I've owned only tube amps and have always made fun of line 6 and modeling. Not any more. Amp models are dead on, effects are excellent. My favs are Fuzz, PitchGlide, tremolo and pitch glide (Octavia, but better) F%@* carrying all those pedals around. Oh, and don't make my mistake, you don't need the hd 100 you can get the 1x12 and it's plenty loud. Don't get the HD100 unless you're going to power a whole stack. It's overkill.Even the 2x12 is gnarly. My one complaint is that the volume knob is more touchy. I;m taking it in for 50 bucks to have them out a more broad sweeping knob in.Get this amp, you'll be stoked.20 years experience.

I've been playing guitar for over 20 years & I know a thing or two about guitar tone. My friend owns the Spider Valve MKII 40 watt combo and he let me try it out at his house. I was blown away!!! My prior experience with Line 6 was the original Vetta amp that my other friend uses. That amp is solid state which I'm not a big fan of. Amp simulators, in my opinion, are like a tub of margarine. Sorry but it's not like real butter. The richness, texture and creaminess are all missed with solid state amp tone, at least at normal full band jam volume levels! So needless to say when I plugged the Spider Valve MKII, I could not believe the tone. Now, the amp is not perfect, but it's the closest thing I've witnessed. Being a full tube amp, you get all the tube tone, only with a hint of the solid state tone from the on board effects processor. And with all this amp does, I can live with that! I quit using my Mesa Duel and also my JMP head since I purchased the 100 watt version head. Beautiful cleans, Thundering Gains, Blues Twang and all points in between. It pretty much eliminated my effects pedal board as well. Well all except for the Deja Vibe... There's no replacing that pedal! All in all, I'm a huge fan of the amp and I can't believe that Line 6 won me over. BUT THEY DID!!! THANX
