By S. Ip
Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/RMZC5M1C8B2N2 I bought a similar pump but it is refurbished for 1/3 of the price. The pump is powerful and quiet. It only uses 4.3 amp at 115 volts. It is a very powerful 1/2 hp pump only drawed 4.3 amp. When I lost electrcity at home, my Craftsman 1/2 hp power 7.5 amp sump pump couldn't run with my 1000 watt inverter. This pump works great with my 1000 watt inverter. Just make sure to drill a 1/8" air bleeding hole at the pipe below the check valve to prevent air lock stopping the pump to start.

I was very impressed with the quality and design of this pump. Installation even in a small crock is a breeze due to the pipe coming out of the top of the housing at the center, and the caged float assembly being clamped to the pipe. The only negative is that the float assembly on and off points are too close together in my opinion due to the short caged float assembly. The pump runs for 10 seconds after the water goes below the float switch off point, presumably to try to compensate for this, but my large 18" crock still has more water in it than I'm used to with a traditional tether type float switch when the pump shuts off. This pump moves so much water so fast, I guess it's no big deal. Plus, the extra water keeps the pump cool, so all in all it's a good trade off to get rid of the tether switch design. The tether switches can be difficult to set up correctly, and can hang up and not turn on sometimes. Doh!!! I've had trouble with them even in my large crock. In a small diameter crock they must be a real pain! The caged switch assembly has TWO floats in it. The second float near the top of the cage activates the pump if the primary float leaks and won't float anymore. Great safety feature!!!I was skeptical about the comments on how quiet this pump is, but I can confirm this is true. This is a very quiet pump.I looked at the local big box stores and did some shopping and research online before buying this pump because I wasn't in desperate need. This is the best pump I found on the market for up to twice the price. The fact that this pump is this good for this price blows me away. The cheapest pump you'll find is about $100, and it's no where near this good!! I paid $130 for this pump shipped to my house from Wayfair. I couldn't be happier with my decision to purchase this pump. Good Luck All!!

By Captain Janeway
I purchased this pump as a replacement for my standard noisy sump pump with an exposed float. I kept having problems with float hang-up and shaft seizure on three different "dry motor pumps".Installation was a breeze. The pump is compact and quiet. It is removable by unplugging the AC cord and loosening one plastic pipe union about six feet up from the pump discharge outlet. Since I have a dry bottom sump, I do this periodically (at least once per year) to replace the top 2 inches of sand with coarse blasting sand. This keeps the pit clean and dry. I keep the pump inlet about 4 inches from the bottom to avoid handling debris. That bottom drainage removes the remaining water so there is no standing water in the sump pit.The only additional thing that I had to do was to use a Ty-Rap® to hold the control box to the wall receptacle. Just loosen the wall plate and tighten it again about halfway on a Ty-Rap®, then engage the Ty-Rap® and tighten it after the control box is plugged in. It is a bit too easy to accidentally bump this and have it fall out for my liking. This is the best pump that I have found for this purpose so far. None of my other pumps have lasted the three years that this one is warranted for.
