Product Description
Beach combers, treasure and relic hunters, prospectors and coin shooters will love the Quick Draw II metal detector from Bounty Hunter for it’s comfort, sensitivity and discrimination control, and digital readout for easy of use. A precision device for locating metallic items, such as jewelry, coins, bullets, and other various artifacts buried up to 3 feet deep, the detector features an 8-inch interchangeable waterproof coil with sensitivity and discrimination controls, so you’ll know whether there are valuable coins down there or just rusty nails and tin cans. The Quick Draw II’s auto notch and selective notch filters let the detector discriminate between metal types. In auto notch the detector automatically displays the type and size of metal found. Selective notch filter mode lets you set the detector to include or exclude any object type or combination of types, finding for example, 1/2 dollars and ignoring unwanted items or finding any type of coin only, or excluding pop can pull tops for example while showing everything else. The detector notifies you with either an audible tone or visual indicator as to what range of metal types a detected object is likely to fall in for further weeding out of undesired items. Touch pad selection and 3-level iron discrimination help produce more coins and fewer rusty nails. The unit's handy LCD display with target identification and depth readout help pinpoint the location of artifacts. Not only does the Bounty Hunter discriminate between valuable metals and iron, it displays coin sizes up to 8 inches deep and detects larger objects up to 3 feet down. A handy headphone jack helps you tune into the search even near noisy streets (headphones sold separately). The purchase is backed by a 5-year limited warranty and includes a storage pouch.

By C. F. Hill
The "Bounty Hunter Quick Draw II" (QDII) is a very good, feature rich, mid-priced metal detector. After doing a lot of research for a "real" metal detector as a gift for my teenage son, I found the features for the price made the QDII the clear choice. The QDII has features that are generally only found on higher priced units:* The LCD screen can indicate what type of metal has been found* Indicates approximate depth* The Notch Modes work well for filtering out most trash itemsWe have really enjoyed using this sensitive and accurate metal detector! The included "bonus" items are a Carrying Bag (a little smallish, but functional) and a "Bounty Hunter Pinpoint Pinpointer" (a small metal detector used to help locate items in the ground). Both are good quality and useful to have with the QDII.Highly recommended!

The Quickdraw II is a great all-around metal detector. I mostly use it in the "All metal" mode but have also used it to notch out unwanted metals where it performs as advertised. I've dug up relics and coins, and the coin ID has been accurate 99 percent of the time. You get used to the different sounds and after a while can guess what metal you're digging (tab, rusted can, etc). I don't believe the depth indicator works accurately on mine so I use it as a guide moreso than gospel. Many detector ads tout depth finding ability but how deep do you really need to go? Most of the stuff you'll find is not down that deep (2-8 inches or so - course your milege may vary). Took it to the beach and was satisfied. In the dry sand, it performed very well (get a good heavy-duty sand scooper for the beach). However, when used too close to the water or in wet sand, the detector gives off numerous false readings as the sodium in the water drives it crazy. To adjust, I turned the sensitivity almost all the way down and was able to use the detector - but doing so sacrifices capability to detect some objects and probably gives up depth. The computer module is not water proof so you probably don't want to get too close anyway. I purchased the 10-inch coil for the beach and was pleased as it allows coverage of more area in one swipe and penetrates a little deeper. Difficulty with the 10-inch is pin-pointing the location of the object when digging in the earth but not an issue at the beach (much easier to scoop sand than earth). The 8-inch coil that comes with the unit is much better suited for "zeroing in" on your find. Overall, I'm very pleased with the unit and highly recomment it for general purpose metal detecting. If detecting at the beach was my main focus, then I would look for a different detector.

I did quite a lot of research before buying on all kinds and all prices of metal detectors. I found that for the price, the Quick Draw 2 had the options we wanted. I have been most pleased with this machine... if it tells me there is a coin..there is a coin. It has not been wrong yet. Batteries wear well. I haven't had to change them in over a month and we use it a lot on the week ends, and some through the week. I would definitely recommend it. We have found numerous coins with it, and it has been great for us!
