So Many Choices...

I don't think I'm a snob, but I do like caviar. I didn't buy this, however, because I like it; I bought it because my son (who I suspect really IS a snob) wanted some caviar for the holiday. Thought I'd surprise him, so I went shoppin'. Where I live the only way to find caviar is to strangle a pregnant fish -- so you guessed it; Amazon. Take a loooong look, and you'll find three choices. You can take out a second mortgage for an ounce or two, you can spend a lot less and buy something akin to the spawn of the creature you saw on last Friday night's movie, or (you may have seen this one coming), you can take the mid-course and get domestic black bowfin. Trust me when I tell you that you can do better. For another $500 you can get melt-in-your-mouth ambrosia. This, however, was much kinder to my wallet and very, very good. I'm not going to give you the connoisseur's take on it (because if I did you'd think I really was a snob), but I'll tell you this. It's got a mild, pleasing taste with a good finish. It's got the right crunch to the outer roe with a smooth inside. I tried it on hard-boiled eggs as well as toast, and it went nicely with both. I wasn't disappointed with the packaging or delivery -- it arrived quickly, and cold-packed. I love Amazon almost as much as I love caviar, which is almost as much as I love my son.
