5One of the best 1/6 scale figures to date by any company.
By Armando N. Roman
When it comes to 1/6 scale figures, Sideshow is far from the best. They constantly put out figures with either heads too big, arms too long, silly looking face sculpts, poor paint applications, or not enough accessories...and yet their prices continue to rise. But just a few years ago, old Ben Kenobi was released, and he was so good that it almost made me give them a second chance. Obi-Wan's head sculpt is on par with anything by Hot Toys, and that's saying a lot. The first time I saw this figure in person, I was stunned. It looks like Sideshow somehow shrank down Alec- it's that good. Why they can't put this much effort into their other figures, I don't know, but if you're a fan of Obi-Wan and only want one 1/6 scale figure of him, this is the one to get. And get this- the face looks even better than Sideshow's own, and much more expensive, Premium Format Figure.Obi-Wan is almost 100% perfect in every category. I've already raved about the head sculpt, and the hands are just as good. You get two closed, one for a Force gesture and another for a blaster or to use as if he's adjusting his beard. He also comes with an ignited lightsaber and just the hilt, the typical training droid he had Luke use on the Falcon, and the standard Sideshow stand. His outfit is excellent, especially the boots. While it might seem weird to bring them up since they're usually going to be covered by the robe, Sideshow made them stand out on their own as they do with most of the other Jedi boots. He also has quite a few layers of clothes- what you see is not all of what you get, there's more! He has a nice turtle neck sweater under the tunic and robe, and the pants as well. His Jedi robe is a bit of a mixed bag. It looks good but because they went with the 'frayed' look, it's one piece of cloth with no sewing on the edges, so if you pull a string, the whole thing could be a goner in no time. So watch it with that.Honestly, the only other bad thing is that Obi-Wan uses the old Buck body. Luckily, you can get a Hot Toys True Type body, put Obi-Wan's head, hands and outfit on it, and have a MUCH better figure. And hey, it'll still cost less than what most Hot Toys figures go for these days! If you keep everything on the Buck body though, you'll have limited articulation, and won't be able to get a lot of dynamic poses, though I guess ol' Ben's not really suited for that any more at this point huh? That's just my preference though, and it may be different from yours.I'll also mention that you'll want to be careful when switching hands. The holes in the wrists of the hands are so small that I thought I was going to break the pegs on the arms whenever I switched them. 'all the more reason to get a different body.If you ever wanted an example of what a great 1/6 scale figure should look like, Obi-Wan here would be hard to beat. He may be lacking in the accessories a bit, and they could've done his robe better, but when looking at him on a shelf, I have no complaints. 'kinda regret selling mine now!

5Sideshow Ben "Obi-Wan" Kenobi is fantastic!
By R. McCarty
I am not a Star Wars collector, by any stretch of the imagination; so it was with some surprise that I found myself wanting this Sideshow Ben Kenobi figure. There is one good reason for this, the sculpting. This figure looks exactly like the actor, more than any other Ben Kenobi/Alec Guinness figure or statue I have ever seen. And as often as this is said of other figures, the pictures don't so this figure justice; it should be seen to be appreciated. The first aspect of this figure you'll love is the box, a beautifully executed multi-panel display with information on jedi history and Ben Kenobi specifically. It has a glossy finish and sports some great looking shots of the figure in various poses. As I said earlier, the figure does not disappoint. I found myself studying the face from various angles to take it all in, it's great work.Ben has the basic Sideshow body which I personally think is perfect. His wrist joints can be a tad loose, especially when holding his "ignited" lightsaber. But you should have no problems setting this figure in many great poses. He comes with a display stand to help and the good news is that with his jedi robes you won't even see the stand; which is the superior Sideshow version that I love.Ben's accessories include; a lightsaber handle and one that is "ignited," the lightsaber practice probe and stand, and an assortment of extra hands. It's the hands that you'll find this figure's one drawback; the wrist pegs. You have to exert a lot of stress to pull the hands off and the fear is that you could brake the pegs off, subsequently ruining the hand feature altogether; not to mention the figure as a whole. With swappable hands you can have one of three outcomes; they fit perfectly, they're too loose, or they're too tight. You always want the first result but I'll settle for the last; at least they're not too loose and always falling off. I picked a hand for each arm and I'm keeping them there.A word to the wise on the lightsaber grip hands, place them in a cup of hot then cold water to open them up a bit. I had my figure out for about 20 minutes and snapped the ignited lightsaber off at the neck trying to wedge it into the slightly too closed hands. Thankfully, Sideshow Toys stand by their product and shipped me a replacement lightsaber at no charge; great customer service!Sideshow's Ben Kenobi is a great buy for the casual Star Wars fan and a must buy for the Star Wars collector. You might find a figure as good as Ben one day but you'll never find better.

5Awesome ANH Obi Wan Kenobi
By Latinrocker08
Now first let me say that i was very skeptical of getting this figure, one because it costs so much and and Diamond Select came out with their 18inch version which came with exactly the same accessories as did this sideshow one. But, I've had all the other obi wan's sideshow had produced so far so I didn't want to intermingle brands and scales. Man how glad i was wen I opened the box and pulled out this obi wan. The detail was just amazing! especially to the costume alone. It is far more detailed than the Diamond Select UQS Obi wan. Also, the face and paint application is also far better. No questions anymore. Get this Obi Wan!
