Product Description
Whether it's commercial broadcast, studio recording, or live sound reinforcement, the PR-30 is a professional dynamic microphone designed for applications that require a smooth, flat output from a wide frequency response (40Hz-18kHz). A specially designed magnet structure and large, aluminum 1-1/2" low-mass voice coil assembly make this possible. In addition to a carefully wound and placed humbucking coil, the components of the PR-30 are engineered to minimize external noise and provide pure articulation. A unique dual pop screen design ensures that breath blasts never hit the diaphragm directly. The result of all this is a perfect representation of the voice that is virtually unpolluted by external noise..

By John M.
On a Vox AC30 (so far) This mic sounds somewhere between an SM7 and a 421. It has much hotter output than the SM7 with the low end focus but none of the nasalish presence peak. In the mid/high range it takes on the character of the 421.I bought it primarily for live guitar cab micing and it's been a solid performer. The reports from FOH have all been very good. I prefer it to the SM7 as it requires less gain at the desk/mic pre. I'm also going to try it for VO vocals. While I use an 87 a lot in this application, it's not always ideal. So this may be the ticket. Also looking forward to trying it on tenor Sax.

By Donald C. Mann
I really like this mic for my male voice. It is an end fire design so you point the end at your mouth. Handles breath pops well and seems rugged enough. Great meaty sound and works well for my narration and promo work. When combined with my Voxbox, is a great combination (as is most anything with the Voxbox). Also great with female voices. Compared to the PR40, which has a faster transient response and more top end, it is a great and rugged travel mic.Heil Sound PR 30 Large Diaphragm Multipurpose Dynamic Microphone I have clients who prefer the PR30 for singing vocals, voice overs, commercials, narrations, audiobooks and dramatic readings. Because it has a reduced top end it has less digital "buzz" or crackle than the PR40 or large diameter condenser mics. As a dynamic with a high output, I don't always need to use the Cloud Lifter like I do with the PR40.
