Decent chair, bad installation

I got this chair for a standing desk I built recently. For those who are overcome by a sense of irony in having a chair for a standing desk, the concept is to stand *most* of the time and take short breaks once in a while.In any case, the chair is good. The seat and backrest are firm and provide decent support. The height is great for a standing desk--the spec says max 30.5", by my measure its at 31". Don't expect a lavish experience. It's a simple, somewhat minimalistic chair that'll hold you in all the right places and nowhere else. Since I only use it for about 10 minutes at a time I cannot speak to its comfort over time.The installation, although fairly simple, was a different story and certainly didn't build any confidence in the brand. It seems this chair was originally designed to be a regular desk chair and was extended to become a drafting chair. This is clear from the fact that it comes in two packages; one contains the parts and instructions for the chair and the other contains the height extension and "footring". The instructions do not include steps to incorporate these extensions at all, so take a look at the picture here to see how to connect them. A word of warning: look at the foot ring in picture above; it's upside down! The rivets should be facing down so you get a nice, smooth ring under your feet. I hadn't realized this until I installed it, per the picture, and once the parts are pushed firmly together taking them apart is virtually impossible. Not a huge deal, but certainly annoying.Also, the screws that connects the frame underneath the seat are pre-installed into the seat and you have to losen them. One of the screws was overtightened for me, so I had to work hard to undo it. If this happens to you, use a flathead screwdriver and a firm grip. Again, not a big deal, but another point against the brand.Finally, this same frame didn't align perfectly with the holes for the screws. This is a blatant indication of poor construction, and a huge disappointment when you're assembling a new shiny thing. You really lose the excitement from the start. I screwed the frame as best I could--slightly off center, but with enough force it holds together fine.Again, the final product is good for what it aims to do. The installation revealed unfortunate quality issues, though they're mostly nuisances . Still, I would recommend it for the budget-minded folks who plan to spend short periods of time on it.UPDATE: With a rubber mallet and a bit of elbow grease I was able to reverse the foot ring :)

I ordered this chair because |I needed a tall stool for the office |I work in. |It was easy to put together. |It fit in the back seat of my car because it breaks down into two or three pieces. It adjusts up really high and it is a great price. Received it quickly. Brand new. Thanks.

I needed this chair for working at a stand-up computer-table. I thought I could stand all day, but needed to give my feet a break. This chair is more comfortable than most - very thick cushion. The non fabric cover means no stains or crumbs getting embedded. I wonder, however, if I might have only purchased an extension, and used it with the chair I had. Nonetheless, I'm happy with my choice.
