5This is indeed a luggage rack
By P. Geisik
When I first purchased this piece, I was worried about many things: What if it's shoddily built? what if it scratches my paint? What if they actually sent me a giraffe instead? What if I my toilet explodes? (That last one is unrelated. I'm just always worried about that and figured it was only fair that I include it in a list of things I was worried about.) It arrived after a few short days. I was incredibly pleased to find that I had been sent a luggage rack. It was pretty good, too. Padding on the arms, good sturdy construction, it was shiny (Always a plus) and it did fit my Z3. Installing it should have only taken about 10 minutes. It took me a considerable amount more time, as I positioned it wrong and got nervous and had to reinstall it twice. Each time installing it was rather easy and I only lost about 45 minutes of my life. I strapped an empty suitcase on it the next day, which was easy enough to do (The only issue came from the ratcheting ties I was using.) and my suitcase stayed in place as I tried my best to dislodge it. (I pushed it, pulled it, and then got in the car and drifted the car. Nothing.) This is not a bad looking rack, either. I was a bit worried at first, I thought that I may have given the Miata owners a reason to laugh at me, given that I had covered the rear end of the car, the only end of my car they'll ever see, in a luggage carrying apparatus. Nope, it just looks more like a Grand Tourer. My only worry is that it'll provide some drag on the highways. Oh well, that's just the price to pay for being able to carry luggage with me. Even then, it's removable without any indication that it was ever there. That's more than can be said for the factory rack.
