Each disc is manufactured using proprietary unique Dual Reflective Layers (DRL) to maximize both compatibility and longevity. Verbatim’s proprietary dual reflective technology is comprised of a silver layer for broad compatibility and a gold layer for long archival life. The highly reflective silver layer allows the UltraLife CD-R disc to look like a standard silver disc to CD burners. The gold reflective layer is naturally resistant to corrosion. Great Product

I guess you'd have to wait 75 years or so to know for sure if this product works, but I can say that the disks are high-quality (no bad disks) and that they took the data without incident.

These CDs work fine so far. The real test will be whether they still play in 50 years, I hope to be the one conducting that test!

By rebugging
I chose these CDs because I wanted to backup photos. Most CDs decline over time, and are thus not good for long term storage. Gold CDs are called archival because they last much longer. Obviously I do not know yet if this will work over time, but I will use these as one more way to protect my digital photos. This quality is not readily available at retail, so I chose Amazon as a good source.
