Exactly what I was looking for ! The 'manual' control is so much better than an automatic where 'all' the plaques turn on and off to maintain heat. The manual has much less odor that is created when igniting. You choose Low (the middle plaque), Medium (the 3 middle plaques, or High (all 5 plaques). Hope this helps !!! : )
