By Spencer
I bought the 530 Super to replace my 500 ST. It's definitely faster and quieter than the ST. So what's the main difference you ask between the 530 and 500 SUPER. I would say that the 530 adds more power to the flash. The ETTL metering seem's to right on the money. If you were to compare this flash with Canon's 430EX, I would rather get this one. Same performance with added wireless MASTER transmitter.

By Pavel C
Sigma EF-530 DG Super is the best and most important investment you can get for your camera. Let me justify this. First, assuming you already have one, take a shot of an object with your on-camera flash, then put this baby on and take another shot, then compare your results. See the real skin colors and the life-like quality of image? It is night and day. On-camera flash is harsh and there is little adjustment you can do with it. This Sigma can be positioned to bounce the light in many artistic ways so you don't get an overexposed face and a dark background, etc.Another one, and I think it is totally amazing and worth any money, this unit has an IR sensor that when enabled will measure the distance to the object and report it to the camera body, which will focus the lens perfectly. No more hunting, no more issues with focusing due to low light condition or a slow lens, or lack of contrast at the point of focus. I have walked into a totally dark room, blindly focused on several objects, and shots came out perfect! I really like this idea - no more out of focus issues.Use it any time, day or night, inside or outdoors, it makes a big difference, believe me. And it is better than any Canon for the money, why spend extra. You noticed, I am a Canon guy, have been for many years. Canon is overrated, while Sigma and Tamron are two quality competitors that bring excellent products at a fraction of the cost. Of course, if you are a pro, your image is more important, so you go with all Canon, otherwise most people on the street will be easily impressed by your setup compared to their point-and-shoot. I am not about the image, I am simply looking for the best picture for the buck.Simply buy this flash, and you will never look back or feel the money was spend foolishly. Enjoy!

By Josh
For the price of this unit it's great. It's powerful and has the added benefit of an optical trigger. It is built a little cheap, it has an annoying red flashing ready light, and it has a funky menu system. Overall it's worth getting.
