5The Best Harp Mic Out There For Under $100.00
By C. Massingale
I play harp in a blues duo. My favorite mic used to be an old Shure PE585 Unisphere "James Cotton" mic. I was always afraid to try a bullet style mic because my hands probably are a tad smaller than average. After reading multiple reviews of the Superlux D112/C I decided to go ahead and take the plunge. I play through a ModTone analog delay/echo pedal into a small Kustom tube amp. This is as close to the dirty blues harp tone that you are going to get from a stock mic! This thing blew me away. The PE585 is now in a drawer. My other mics came out of my gig bag as well. The mic is very well constructed, easy to hold and cup, has enough cable for you to go anywhere you want to onstage, but the sound is the important thing. A lot of friends and other harp players have let me try a bunch of mics. Trust me . . . This is the one that you want.

5Modern mic for classical blues harmonica
By Chen Jung Kuei
I found the sound of D112 is great, it is just the sound that all the contemporary blues player needs. Also it is easy to hold. Sometimes, the mic and the harmonica will collide with each other while player get excited, which makes a very annoying noise, but the D112 has a very good protection against the unwanted noise, so you can play the music as much as you want. The most important thing, the reasonable price makes people easy to get fun of it.

4Relatively Clean Sound, Useful Volume Control
By Joel Fritz
I've used a wide variety of harp mics including vintage Green Bullets and JT-30s. This mic isn't bad. It's not as easy to overdrive as my Shure Commando or my Astatic 300 shell with a relatively new JT-30 ceramic element, but with the right amp it's a good sounding mic. It's also relatively high output. A plus is that the volume control that comes with the mic has a useful range. You don't have to crank it all the way up and leave it there in order to get the best tone. I have an amp with both preamp and power amp gain controls. I can get as dirty a sound as I please with that one. With some amps the sound will be cleaner. There are always 3 variables in tone: the player, the mic, and the amp. A truth not universally acknowledged but true nonetheless is that the player is the most important variable. If you want a dirty sound you must be able to produce a somewhat dirty sound without amplification. The mic and the amp can influence your sound but good tone originates from inside the player. A second truth is that gear is personal. The best gear for you may not be the best gear for anyone else.Build quality is good, shell and cord are well mated with adequate strain relief. Cord seems durable. The shell is easy to take apart.
