To me it was worth the price

My Dell Inspiron 1501 battery died. At first I believed Dell but after the third battery I realized that either they were misinformed or they were misinforming me. The computer was not charging the battery. I got this charger out of desperation. I am very pleased that it works. Not only has it charged my battery but also the "clone" that they said couldn't be charged because it was "inferior". So now I have two batteries!!! There are no instructions but it's very basic. You just just plug it in and wait till all four lights are on. It takes several hours of course. But the only problem is is I don't know when it is totally charged. I don't want it to overcharge. Maybe it will blink but I don't want to risk it. If someone knows please let me know. But I've been running and I've got almost 4 hours here and that's acceptable. I thought this was pricey but it to me it has turned out to be a very good investment.

The directions for this product were nonexistent, but once I figured it out, things were ok. The price is better than most, and it gets the job done.

It Works Great But The Instructions Are Poorly Written

The External Battery Charger for Dell Studio 1737 External Battery Charger for Dell Inspiron 1501, 6400, E1505 & Latitude 131L ...works great but the instructions are so poorly written that it takes some thought to get it to work. For example, the charging light is flashing Green (that's OK) or Red, while the fully charged battery can be solid Red or Green (depending upon you battery's condition. Also, the connector to the battery is made so it cannot be reversed and cause a real problem. This is good but the connector fits a number of different batteries, so it doesn't attach snugly on a Dell Studio 17 and falls off constantly. It takes a little bit of ingenuity to get it to stay. When you do, it does fantastic.Overall, the External Battery Charger for Dell does the job well. It actually charges faster than the Laptop itself (I guess it should since it doesn't have a lot of other things to power). If you love your Dell 17 inch (like me), have the dreaded Dell "battery not charging, AC Adapter connected" problem, then this External Battery Charger for Dell is an alternative to the $500 motherboard replacement.
