We've always put a heated blanket under our sheets, rather than over one, so when our last heated blanket died, we decided it was a good time to try a heated mattress pad like this one.My only complaint is that it has a "bump" down by your feet, which can be distracting in the night. This is the receptacle for power- you can see it in the photos of this product.Otherwise, it works well, puts out PLENTY of heat, and we don't feel the wires below us.

Warm and Toasty Nights

My husband and I love (LOVE) this heated mattress pad. We have a tempurpedic mattress which softens and conforms to one's body. Only problem is during the winter when it's cold, the mattress feels so hard. So, we came up with the idea of warming up the mattress before getting into bed with an electric blanket. But, when I saw the electric mattress pad with dual controls, I thought that would be the perfect solution.We are very happy with our purchase. The pad heats up quickly and now our mattress is soft and warm. I am so glad we purchased the pad rather than the blanket. I am a person who gets cold easily but my husband gets pretty warm during the night, so he ends up tossing the covers, blankets and quilt onto me..... With an electric blanket that would have been just one more warming layer for him to toss off. The mattress pad is great because it is beneath us and with the dual controls, we can warm up the bed and then dial the controls to our own personal preference - he likes 2 and I keep it at 8. What's funny is that he didn't think he would even use it once the bed had been warmed. But he realized how much better he has slept and does not wake up with the aches and sore back pain that he used to wake up with. Now he raves about it to anyone who will listen. We both think that EVERYONE should own an electric mattress pad. We can't believe we suffered through so many cold nights without it.

Efficacy: I think this product works very well. I use it every night now! The heat is very subtle and may not seem to be all that great initially. After a while though it can actually get to be too warm especially on the higher settings. I like to warm the bed up on high, then after I get into bed and I feel warmed adequately I turn it down to 3. Never had any skin burn. I do not perceive that there is even distribution of heat. It seems to be alot warmer at the head and foot than in the body area.Comfort: I barely notice the coils because I have it under another mattress pad. If I stretch out I can occasionaly feel the mechanism at the foot of the bed where the plug connects, I don't find this bothersome.Overall great product for the price!
