Full sounding - but needs to be played with hard accents

Traditional shekeres are made from hollowed out gourds with beads or shells connected by a netting to the outside of the gourd. This is a fiberglass version with a netting of plastic beads.The shekere can be played in a number of ways, but the main thing to consider is the sound. This is a very FULL sounding shekere because of the number of beads on the exterior. In my opinion, this shekere needs to be played with hard accents or it all starts to sound the same.One thing I especially like about this model is that the netting can be adjusted from tight to loose. Monumentally helpful in a variety of situations.This is my second shekere, as I also have a Latin Percussion Pro Shekere which has a louder crisper sound, but the Meinl is lighter and IMHO, easier to play.

I PURCHASED THIS MEINL SHEKERE WHICH I FOUND IT VERY COMFORTABLE AND BEST SUITED FOR ME TO PLAY.IT HAS A VERY CRISP FULL SOUND AND I REALLY LOVE ITS FEATURES.THE ONLY PROBLEM I AM HAVING IS THAT EVERYTIME I PLAY,FEW BEADS KEEP BREAKING OFF AND I AM CONCERNED ABOUT THIS.I AM A DIEHARD MEINL FAN (PERCUSSIONIST)ALL MY INSTRUMENTS ETC.ARE ONLY MEINL AND NO OTHER BRAND.I BELIEVE IN MEINL.
