not the perfect chair...comfortable but several flaws

Pros:It definitely helps my back. I can work for hours with my laptop and have no pain whatsoever. It's way better than sitting upright in my office chair. I use it every day and it's extremely comfortable. I can't fault it on that.Cons:1. It is made out of very thin painted-on fake leather, and any tiny scratch shows the light-colored material underneath which looks awful. I have a cat, and she likes to climb up the chair to sit above my head, so forget about it. It looked dinged up the first week, and now it looks horrible. I really, really wish they would just use real upholstery fabric which can hold up way better to real use. We don't all live in pristine minimalist houses with no pets or kids.2. The leg rest almost immediately became bowed as the support started bending. There was hardly any strength to it. This is why they warn you all over the manual to not stand up until you've put the chair ALL the way back into an upright position. But come on - that takes forever. I am in and out of this chair all day, sometimes I'm just going to hop out of the chair. And any bit of excess pressure on the leg rest made it bow. What I ended up doing is have my brother reinforce it with a 2 x 4 - which worked great, but I don't expect to have to retrofit a $2000 chair myself a few months after owning it.3. The cushion on the foot rest is not memory foam or latex which means it gets compressed, and pretty quickly. There's a big valley in mine now, where my legs go. That goes for my butt too - the padding under it is getting thinner as time goes on.So. Basically I just don't think it's a very high quality product. It's a well thought out concept, and the proportions and design are great. But the implementation is with poor quality materials - cheap fabric, cheap foam, and inadequate reinforcement.For this much money, they could easily use a foam like latex that holds its shape and lasts for decades. They could easily offer real leather, or a durable and attractive upholstery fabric. And they could obviously reinforce it more - we did it in about half an hour.I'm disappointed that for the price you don't get better quality. Unfortunately it's the only chair like it that I've found so I guess I'm going to be living with it for awhile.

A fix for back pain, neck pain, and knee pain

Sitting is the worst thing you can do for you back....unless you're in this chair. Even sitting slightly back in this chair relieves the pressure on the back. This chair is manual, which is fine with us as it means one less thing to break!The red leather is a nice red color with good quality leather.The manual recline lets you adjust to many different positions, not like a typical recliner with just three positions.The top section can be adjusted flat and forward and the pillow can be removed or positioned anyway you like it. I found the padding to be too much in my pillow and removed part of the stuffing. I suppose if it's not enough you could add some as well. Actually now that I'm talking about it, memory foam in this pillow would be awesome!If you have difficulty getting into a chair, this one might not be the one, but rather the wood base model that's not enclosed. With the enclosed base, the chair bottom doesn't rest flush or vertical but rather out a bit.My husband had a swollen knee a few weeks ago...he must of twisted working around the yard. He sat in the leather sectional with his leg up on the ottoman because his chair is sort of out of optimum viewing of the TV. That lasted for a few minutes. He sat in his chair and immediately felt the relief on his knee. I have suffered from neck pain which I now think started in my mid back. This chair has helped considerably.I wasn't drawn to this chair for its looks, but rather the comfort. As I said to a friend while shopping when she asked me about some shoes. "They better be comfortable because they're ugly!" This chair isn't "ugly" and it's sort of like a person with the good personality, that gets prettier once you know them! LOL! We bought two of these chairs; one for me and one for my husband. We're constantly telling our children to move when we want to use them. And our guests are drawn to them as well, despite having a big comfy leather sectional available.You won't be disappointed in this purchase. I called the company and asked why they were selling so cheap and what was the PC-80 model as the description is lacking. She said the red leather wasn't a popular color which has been discontinued and they no longer make the enclosed base in a manual recline. That's o.k. with me. I like the combo and this chair at $999 is about half to over half of retail.

If your tall and old and your back is starting to hurt ... you might want to invest in a zero gravity chair. I love my chair. I put a heating pad in the small of my back, recline into the padded leather, and watch the tv between my toes. With the padded design ... the elbows fit perfectly, and you can tuck yourself in just right. I cannot count the number of movies I have missed because I nodded off into a comfy nap. And when I wake up, my back feels good. If you worked a little too hard ... you owe yourself this chair.
