great fan

I installed this fan to cool the garage in the hot summer months. I was not expecting much when I saw the fan but I'm highly impressed. The fan hums away all day cooling the garage.When I put my hand behind the fan (other side of wall) I feel the hot air blowing our with a lot of force - I'd say equal to a big hairdryer on max!

I bought this solar panel and fan not to cool a green house, but to help cool a mobile home. My 1972 mobile home has what is called a "roof-over" and therefore has a small air space running the length of the mobile home covered with an aluminum roof. Both ends had vented panels and there is fiberglass insulation covering the original trailer roof over which was installed the "roof over." I have painted the roof white, which made a big difference in summer cooling electricity expense. But, it has been so hot so far this summer August 12, 2011 that I felt I could do better.I installed the fan in the west end of the gable of the roof over as high as I could get it, built a backing plate of plywood with a hole the diameter of the fan space which I screwed the fan on to and then screwed that structure to one of the center aluminum cover plates on the West end of the mobile home. I covered the outside facing part of this in order to keep rain out with a louvered dryer (cloths dryer) vent cover. So, that when the sun goes down or it is cloudy or raining the louvers close.I sealed all the air vents on this West end of the trailer so that the fan would draw air through the roof over from the vents on the East end of the trailer.I mounted the solar panel on the roof at the peak on the South facing side and angled it slightly toward the east.I am so thrilled with the results. It all works like a charm...on a sunny day in the summer the fan comes around 9:30 am and runs until 7:30 or 8 pm in the evening. And it costs me nothing in electricity. Both the fan and the solar panel are very high quality!

Useful greenhouse fan

Easily set up.Works reasonabley well in a 12 x 8 greenhouse using shade cloth to reduce temperature. I would purchase a bigger size of fan for an 12 x 8 greenhouse to get move exchanges per hour but this size would work well with a smaller greenhouse with vents. Good value for money - remember to install an on/off switch since its always live when the sun shines and the blades are sharp!
