This works, but, in general, cheap fuel pumps are a HUGE no-no.

I bought this because I'm not paid enough to buy the one I should have ($600 +/- by Motorcraft)This pump does work. The increase from 32 psi (what I had) and whatever the pressure is now on my fuel rail ( I haven't checked it). Is huge. Now I can crank the engine for 2 seconds, release the key and the engine jumps to life. The engine no longer stalls immediately after starting. The engine re-starts, when hot, after being OFF for a minute or two (that's kind of a problem with low fuel psi in a 300 cid straight six from Ford).The reason I rated it 3 stars; * Finding which one to use, for my application, was an exercise in frustration. Finally I used another e-tailer's website to ensure that I was using the right part number. * Because this is inexpensive (perhaps) there is no 'dampening' of the fuel level signal. In the failed Motorcraft pump that I took out, the fuel level signal was steady and didn't move the needle all around. Now, the fuel level needle swings back and forth with every little imperfection in the road. Corners, stops and starts the needle, with about a half tank full of gas, and the needle will swing from Full to Empty. * I haven't put a whole lot of miles on it yet, but as best I can tell; the calibration of the fuel level is not correct. It reads Full for too long and then plummets to Empty. I know that each fuel level sender is different, but this is more than just 'different' it is just plain inaccurate and confusing. * The instructions for cutting and splicing the new fuel pump wiring harness into the old fuel pump wiring harness are just plain wrong. Fortunately I had a service manual and was able to figure it out and make it work. * The instructions call for splicing a new connector into the old harness, I think that is poor instruction, I spliced the new harness directly to the old harness, with out the new connector in between. I see no reason to do this, it only adds Another plug that could fail.

Leap of faith pays off

Ever walk into a dark room and reach your hand over the wall just inside the door to turn on the lights because that's where the switch is suppose to be? That's what purchasing this fuel pump felt like. I knew my fuel pump was bad but I couldn't see it to know for sure and had no idea if I was buying the right one. This seller made the journey painless, from their compatibility chart to intuitively packing a wire harness adapter helped me transition from old to new amazingly easy.Pump solved all my problems and got the old truck back on the road...but for some reason, it didn't help the windshield wiper motor issues...baby steps
